Aalborg Forsyning invests in district cooling as well as several collaborations on CCUS technologies

District cooling will become a new major focus area for the supply, where large customers have already been secured in the form of the upcoming super hospital, New Aalborg University Hospital and IKEA.

– District cooling is catching up a little. We can sense a fairly high demand, and we have also just made an agreement to cool the new school that is being built at Stigsborg Brygge. There is much more capacity in our systems, so more can be connected, says Søren Gais Kjeldsen.

Aalborg Forsyning also wants to enter into several collaborations on CCUS technologies, where so far they are part of a project at Aalborg Portland. A lot of heat can be collected in the process of CO2 capture, which can be used for district heating.

– It is still on a trial basis and work is under way on how the technology should be found. When carbon capture is established, a significant heat development occurs, and then it is quite obvious to send it into the district heating, says Søren Gais Kjeldsen.
