UK: Report on district heating and local approaches to heat decarbonisation

The Element Energy report for the Committee on Climate Change estimates the size of the near-term market for district heating in the UK and looks at the potential impact of district heating on heat decarbonisation in the medium and long term.

Waste heat from industry and power stations located near centres of heat demand could provide 11 TWh of heat by 2030 if a policy framework is implemented without delay.

The report echoes the sentiment of the ADE’s view that policy should reward the carbon savings delivered by district heating.
