FACTS:
There are a total of 450 district heating plants across the country. 1,615,000 households are connected to district heating, which corresponds to 63 percent of all households in Denmark. That figure is growing – 16,500 new households were connected in 2012.
52 percent of district heating is green according to the Danish Energy Agency´s Energy Statistics for 2011. 2011 saw a turnover of district heating companies of around 24 billion DKK.
405,000 households have individual natural gas boilers, while 310,000 households have oil burners. Many will convert to district heating.
