Dong Energy now delivers many years of accumulated knowledge in power plant technology to engineering giant Ramboll in this week´s second sell-off in the energy company.
Monday Dong Energy gave up a significant proportion of the offshore wind park Anholt to pension companies PKA and Pension Denmark for total 6 billion DKK, and today it is official that Ramboll takes over 115 specialists in power plant technology from Dong Energy.
“This is a step to become the largest consultant in renewable energy in Europe by 2015, “says Thomas Rand, CEO for Ramboll Energy.
Ramboll continues as supplier to Dong Energy but when the 115 employees are transferred, they will be a central part of Ramboll future consultancy.
“Dong Energy builds a power station every ten years, we build four each year, so we will be able to create critical mass with the 115 employees in this kind of advice, “says Thomas Rand.
Experts in biomass
The 115 employees are among other experts in how to convert coal plants into operation based on biomass and this knowledge must now play a key part of a whole new division in Ramboll under the name Ramboll Energy Power. The department will advise Dong and other energy companies.
The competence injection is a part of Ramboll´s growth strategy in the energy area and will provide the engineering company the possibility of establishing themselves in consulting for larger power plants globally.
Ramboll´s energy division currently has 300 employees in offices in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, England, Switzerland and later at the year also Germany and the USA.
Ramboll hopes to play a major role in power plants´ conversion from fossil fuels to more environmentally friendly biomass. The company expects that the conversion of coal plants into biomass will be a general trend in the coming years.
