Peter Lorenzen has been CEO of Wärmewerk GmbH, which consults district heating utilities on all issues relating to the transition of district heating systems since 2023.
He previously headed the “Heating” research team at the Competence Center for Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. This team conducted extensive research into many aspects of district heating transition. The topics include the development of transformation strategies, software development, digitalization, optimization, and the technical and economic integration of renewable heat sources into district heating systems.
In 2022, Peter Lorenzen successfully finished his Ph.D. on a transition-facilitating methodology for the design, operative planning, and operation of district heating systems.
