Members profile

Egedal Fjernvarme A/S is a small, municipally owned district heating company that supplies customers in two of the municipality's cities with district heating.

The company was established in 2013. At that time, the city council decided to expand district heating to cover as much of the municipality as possible.

Phasing out natural gas by 2025

Solar panels, a biomass boiler, two gas engines, and four wood pellet boilers produce the heat. The city council has decided that natural gas should be phased out from production by 2025 at the latest.

Expansions connecting 5600 new customers

By the end of 2022, the city council has approved expansion projects which can connect 5600 new customers to the district heating network. The district heating expansions will result in a 5-fold increase in heat sales.

Various types of heat pumps and surplus heat

The heat for the new customers will be produced on air-to-water heat pumps and heat pumps on wastewater and surplus heat from businesses. Another option is the interconnection with other companies to cover a part of the heat demand.
