AI & Digitalization - Marts 2023

Hot Cool, 2nd edition, 2023 is about AI & DIGITALIZATION.

Whenever things get complex, digitalization is considered the go-to answer. Few industries have seen an increase in complexity like the one in district heating. "Digitalization is an essential step in the evolution of district heating systems. It not only improves the reliability of the systems but also makes them more sustainable and customer-friendly," says Steen Schelle Jensen in this issue's column. Jan Eric Thorsen and his writing team from Danfoss explain how to exploit the power of digitalization and AI for end-to-end optimization of the district heating system. Anders N. Andersen from EMD tells us the story about how Hvide Sande has become independent of fossil fuels by using wind and solar energy. Read also the article about the Dutch municipality that’s making heat for the public good by taking the initiative in heat transition. Anders Dyrelund along with his writing team explain how the virtual battery is working and how the fluctuating renewable energy from wind and solar can be used for heating and cooling buildings. And in the Scientist Corner a research confronts the myth of active energy consumers in "The district heating business model in 2050- possible pathways". Finally Magnus Skovrind Pedersen claims that the democratic ownership model has played a significant role in Denmark’s energy and heating sector.

Hot Cool is probably the best district heating magazine in the world!
