NO!!! There is no competition between district heating and energy savings in buildings. We need both – and a lot of both!
This article from a large group of scientists at Aalborg University - demonstrates that we need more district heating in Denmark. Up to 63 – 70% of the heat market. And at the same time, we need to make 32 – 40% savings on heat demand from buildings.
And how to do that – well, read the article. But low temperature includes all heat sources – not least geothermal, and waste heat are key measures. NOT a surprise to most, but we have to remind ourselves again and again that this is the way forward.
So energy efficiency and district heating go well together.
