Approximately half of the world's power demand is used for heating, cooling, and ventilation. District heating is widespread in the Nordics, and we already have the required infrastructure to deliver low-grade heat to buildings without transporting it as electricity. Those heat loads should increasingly be generated by waste heat and other low-temperature sources. Hopefully, more regions will follow the Nordics and invest in the required district heating and cooling infrastructure.
