Electrify everything… but not all heating and cooling.

by Linda Bertelsen

The Energy Transition Show’s latest episode covers an energy topic and a Nordic gem, namely district heating (and cooling).

Approximately half of the world’s power demand is used for heating, cooling, and ventilation. District heating is widespread in the Nordics, and we already have the required infrastructure to deliver low-grade heat to buildings without transporting it as electricity. Those heat loads should increasingly be generated by waste heat and other low-temperature sources. Hopefully, more regions will follow the Nordics and invest in the required district heating and cooling infrastructure.

Listen to a great podcast episode with Chris Nelder interviewing Daniel Møller Sneum of DTU – Technical University of Denmark. Non-subscribers to the Energy Transition Show can access the mini-episode for free for a limited period of time.
