A delegation of Danish companies – Kamstrup, Grundfos, Danfoss, Salling Plast, Aalborg Engineering, Ramboll and Aarsleff – participated in a tour to Karaganda and Astana from 30th October – 4th November.
Thomas Winkler, Ambassador of Denmark to the Russian Federation, led the delegation through an intensive meeting program that started with a welcome by Abdindekov N.K., Head of Administration of Karaganda region. In the evening, the group was invited to dinner by Andrey Lyaputov, the City Administration’s Vice-Akim, and was served Kazakhstan’s famous national dish, Besh Barmak.
On the second day of the program, the opening plenary meeting focused on energy efficiency and savings in the energy sector. Klaus Fafner, Ramboll, held a presentation that gave an insight into the Danish district heating sector. The meeting also comprised speeches from the Danish Ambassador and the Head of Administration of Karaganda Region, as well as valuable input from Danish companies on district heating in Denmark and best practices related to energy efficiency and savings. Later on, the delegation payed a visit to a combined heat and power plant, Karaganda CHP-3, and had meetings with several relevant business collaborators from the district heating sector.
Many of the delegation companies expressed interest in the water sector. Therefore the program, both in Karaganda and Astana, also included a visit to projects of Kazvodokanalproekt, responsible for the water supply and sanitation in major cities of Kazakhstan.
Once in Astana, a roundtable seminar was held at its City Administration. After the meeting, the Danish companies had the chance to have concrete discussions about the pilot projects in Astana, designed to light the way for Kazakhstan’s green future.
