DBDH MEMBERS’ MEETING AT FENAGY: A DAY OF INSIGHTS AND NETWORKING

DBDH MEMBERS’ MEETING AT FENAGY, DEC. 2024

On Wednesday, December 4th, DBDH members convened at Fenagy in Lystrup for our biannual members’ meeting. The day began with a tour of the Ry District Heating Plant, guided by Flemming Joel Skjødt. Following a lunch, participants enjoyed a tour of Fenagy led by Ebbe Nørgaard. The formal meeting commenced with a warm welcome from Kim G. Christensen.

Cybersecurity: A Call to Action

The first critical topic of the day was cybersecurity, framed as urgent and under-addressed. Moderated by Jørgen Nielsen, the session featured insights from Kim Breiner of the Center for Cybersecurity at the Danish Defence Intelligence Service. Breiner outlined the current state of cybersecurity and the steps required to bolster resilience.

Anni Hoffmann of AURA shared strategies for building awareness in utility companies, while Finn Junker from TVIS provided a utility company’s perspective, offering real-world experiences and lessons learned. The discussion highlighted the importance of proactive measures and collaboration across the sector.

Advancing Heat Pump Technology

In the afternoon, attention shifted to the latest developments in heat pump technology domestically and internationally. Claus Jacobsen from IngeniørHuse explored the role of heat pumps as system integrators, emphasizing their transformative potential. Frederik Rugaard of Høje-Taastrup District Heating discussed the key factors to consider when procuring heat pumps.

John Tang Jensen from the Danish Energy Agency addressed the dependency of heat pumps on electricity. This led seamlessly into Thomas Brouer’s presentation, which detailed Kredsløb’s approach to electricity market dynamics, production planning, and future facility requirements. The session concluded with an engaging panel discussion and open dialogue, encouraging knowledge-sharing among attendees.

Exploring Export Markets

The final major topic of the day focused on export opportunities for the district energy sector. Morten Jordt Duedahl presented DBDH’s country analysis, which served as the foundation for a thought-provoking discussion. Steen Schelle Jensen of Kamstrup and Elsebeth Arendt from Kredsløb joined Duedahl to analyze promising markets and share strategies for international growth.

Closing with Collaboration

The event concluded with a District Heating Marketplace and a casual beer session, fostering dialogue between members. Representatives from Nyborg Forsyning and Næstved District Heating answered questions about conversion challenges and shared their progress toward green transition goals. The day also provided an opportunity to welcome new members: Justsen Energiteknik, InoPower, and Adding Engineering.

On our way to the dinner at Varnapalæet we made a stop-over at the new geothermal drilling at the habour of Aarhus, where Elsebeth Arendt from Kredsløb and Søren Lorenzen from Innargi told us about the latest development.

A Day of Inspiration and Gratitude

This enriching day of networking and knowledge exchange was made possible by the dedication of all participants. Special thanks go to Flemming Joel Skjødt for the tour of the Ry District Heating Plant, as well as to Ebbe Nørgaard, Kim Gaardø Christensen, and the team at Fenagy for their outstanding hospitality and guided tour of Fenagy’s production facilities.
DBDH extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to this inspiring gathering!
