Croatia invests in biomass CHP facilities

by dbdh

Dutch firm HoSt, a European supplier of bioenergy systems, has received a €20 million order from Croatian electricity company HEP to build two wood-fired combined heat and power plants.

The biomass plants will supply 3 MW of electricity to the grid. The residual heat generated will be supplied to the district hCroatian flageating networks in the cities of Sisak and Osijek.

The residual heat generated during electricity production will be utilised for district heating purposes, while the water vapour from the flue gasses shall be condensed, generating approximately 25% more heat with the same amount of wood.
