The 1 MWe unit, to be operated by Veolia, is set to come online in August and is planned to supply power and district heating for the new Royal Wharf neighbourhood (pictured, artist’s impression) in London’s Docklands area.
The project will feature an energy centre built by engineering services contractor Cilantro Engineering.
Once completed, the new plant is expected to reduce the neighbourhood’s carbon emissions by 1800 tonnes per year and its NOx emissions to 95 nm3.
The installation will power and heat 3,385 homes and businesses across the 16-ha site.
