As the first heat supply company in Denmark, AffaldVarme Aarhus establishes a new solar power plant in collaboration with two companies in Jutland. The facility will test a new type of solar district heating. The plant has curved mirror surfaces that will turn with the sun.

The plant is a pilot and demonstration plant for developing sustainable and renewable energy for district heating. Head of Department Elsebeth Arendt at AffaldVarme Aarhus says: “AffaldVarme Aarhus strives to identify and demonstrate the technologies that in 10-15 years will supply our customers with a larger share of their heat. We look forward to hosting the new demonstration plant for high temperature solar heating because it both promotes renewable energy and the development of Danish technology.

The solar plant is built in collaboration with Danish Alpha-E, which developed the product. In addition to supplying energy for the district heating plant, temperatures up to 250 degrees will be tested.
