The Milan growing DH network

Date: 6 November 2019

A plan for the development of the DH network by A2A is underway in the municipality of Milan. Once the development project under study is completed, DH will play a leading role in the domestic heating of the city inhabitants. To date, with all the users connected to the district heating distribution network in the Milan area, over 200,000 people are covered, allowing a reduction in CO2 emissions of around 250,000 tons per year. The district heating upgrading plan in the Municipality of Milan envisages the construction of new plants and the exploitation of energy potentials in the area, and a considerable extension of the heat distribution networks to cover all areas of the city outside the external ring road with the aim in the medium term of being able to serve an additional 270,000 customers.
