40 years ago, a new district heating export organization saw the daylight – DBDH was founded. This anniversary was celebrated last Thursday.
The event was held at Munkebjerg Hotel in Vejle, where DBDH participants and guests participated in a day filled with networking, technical presentations and speeches, sports and other types of entertainment, as well as dinner and more networking.
After an initial networking session, Chairman of DBDH Jan Strømvig welcomed at the meeting, followed by a presentation by former Chairman Lars Gullev, who introduced the audience to the historic development of district heating in Denmark – as well as looking some years ahead.
Robin Wiltshire, Technical Director, BRE, represented the international angle and spoke about the international review of district heating and cooling – the history and the way forward.
Jesper Koch from Grøn Energi, the Danish District Heating Association, told about the competitive conditions compared to individual heating, based on analyses by Grøn Energi. Jesper Koch also provided a status of the energy settlement 2018, focusing on district heating.
After a short break, all participants went to the local club for lessons in “driving range” and “putting green”, finished by competitions, which led to prizes for some later in the evening.
The evening arrangement was also eventful, including speeches about the history of DBDH from various key persons in the history of DBDH. It also featured a special DBDH honorary prize, which went to Lars Gullev, who has always been a great DBDH ambassador, and by many perceived as “Mr. District Heating”.
Magician Henrik Svanekier added to a spellbound atmosphere with his intriguing show, and the evening ended with a visit to the hotel’s casino and final network and social time together with colleagues and contacts.
DBDH would like to thank all participants for contributing to a great 40 years anniversary.
