EIB to provide €1.3bn for projects in Africa, Europe and South America

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has approved funding for a variety of infrastructure projects, including wind and hydro power.

Some €1.3bn out of total approved funding of €11.5bn will go to energy and water projects, the EIB said.

The schemes include wind farms in Austria, hydropower schemes in Madagascar and renewable energy projects in Peru, it added. The finance will also cover small-scale biomass and district heating in Europe, as well as a smart metering scheme in France, the bank said.
