Danish-Chinese district heating cooperation strengthened

Date: 19 September 2017

In this week, about 50 directors from the Chinese district heating sector are meeting with 40 Danish/Chinese participants from Danish district heating companies and exporters of Danish district heating technology. China’s largest district heating companies are many times larger than Fjernvarme Fyn, Denmark’s 3rd largest district heating company.

The Danish-Chinese district heating meeting is called the “Sino-Denmark Green Heating Forum”, and it takes place in Fyn, where the city of Odense and Fjernvarme Fyn together host a two-day packed conference.

Here the delegation will meet Danish energy authorities, district heating companies and, in particular, a string of representatives from the many Danish companies that provide consultancy and technology in district heating and energy supply.

A closer cooperation
As part of the close Danish Chinese cooperation, the Danish Board of District Heating (DBDH) and China District Heating Association (CDHA) yesterdayy signed a renewed cooperation agreement on knowledge sharing and delivery of Danish technology to Chinese district heating projects.

The agreement was signed by Fjernvarme Fyn’s CEO Jan Strømvig, who is also Chairman of the Danish Board of District Heating (DBDH), and by Li Dawei, President of both the China District Heating Organization (CDHA) and the world’s largest district heating company, Beijing District Heating Group.

Both Jan Strømvig and Li Dawei emphasized the strong traditions for cooperation between Denmark and China in terms of the exchange of knowledge and technology in district heating. Li Dawei emphasized China’s ambitions to promote green and intelligent energy in the coming years, not least through the integration of greener energy and better interaction in the energy system, to which district heating should contribute.
