We need to save on energy! That is the message from China’s political top, which Means that the Chinese will now pay according to consumption and not as previous according to the number of square meters of living space. And that is good news for the Danish manufacturer of smart meters, Kamstrup.

Today, China accounts for less than 10 percent of the Danish company’s revenue, but this can soon change. “But it will be something of an investment to set up a system so that each apartment in a residential block will be equipped with a meter. So therefore it will mostly be made in new buildings and in buildings that are being modernized”, says Senior Vice President of Kamstrup, Knud Bonde.

Kamstrup is today present on all continents except Antarctica, with branches in 23 countries and distributors in a further 40. With a booming business, the company expects to pass 1,000 employees during 2015.
