Morten Helveg Petersen new spokesman for energy security in the EU

Date: 24 September 2014

The newly elected MEP Morten Helveg Petersen has been chosen as spokesman for European energy security.

In cooperation with the spokesmen from the other groups in the Parliament he will formulate a response to the European Commission’s proposal on energy security – an issue that is very relevant because of the crisis with Russia.

“If there is one impression I got during the first few months of thework of the Parliament, it is how deep these issues stick. The situation with Russia is very serious… Back in Denmark, it may well be a discussion where we do not quite feel the intensity of it. But when listening to Central and Eastern European colleagues, it really is a very important discussion, “says Petersen to the site.
